We have concluded research activities in the Center for Health-related
Imaging and Bioinformatics (CHIB). Research, scholarship and innovation
expanding on the mission of CHIB is underway in the following centers:
- The Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology is a multidisciplinary effort dedicated to research on questions arising from the genome revolution, joining scientists and engineers from computer science, molecular biology, genomics, genetics, mathematics, statistics, and physics, all of whom share a common interest in gaining a better understanding of how life works.
- The University of Maryland Center of Excellence in Microbiome Sciences joins faculty, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students in pursuit of a deeper understanding of complex microbial communities, and how those microbiomes interact with each other and with our ecosystem.
- The Center for Medical Innovations in Extended Reality (MIXR) is building the scientific foundations for designing and assessing extended-reality (XR) applications in medicine. MIXR is exploring XR and machine learning for public health, medical education, clinical care, and therapeutics.
